Clos Lapeyre is situated in the Jurancon region of SW France, an appellation famous for sweet wines but still (unfairly) obscure for its dry wines. Nestled on steep terraced slopes facing the Pyrenees, this wine has a wonderful aromatic intensity achieved by the winemakers choice to pick late in the season. This gives the wine a faint note of honey and hazelnuts to let you know its related to its sweeter cousin, but quickly the palate shows pronounced notes of green apple and citrus, leading to a bone-dry finish. Great with meaty white fish such as haddock or hake, it also pairs well with pork.
