Wines have been made at this estate for 2,000 years and the Picoron family have been there since 1570. At Chateau Picoron, they explore the potential of Merlot as the first grape variety to be planted in Bordeaux. The Merlot grapes are all grown in small plots around the Chateau (4.5 hectares in total). As climate change creates new challenges for the region they are learning to adapt by using traditional winemaking techniques and minimal intervention and organic practices in the vineyard and in the winery. This a juicy and rich Merlot without any oak ageing. Made with organic grapes, its full of plums and cherries with wild herbs and velvety tannins.
