Barbeito are one of the smallest Madeira Wine producers, only founded in 1946 but has an extraordinary reputation. Ricardo, the founder’s grandson took over in the ‘90’s, reinventing the traditional wines and techniques. He was the first to bottle Madeira wine without adding caramel and has also bottled from a single cask, which was once a traditional way. Aromas of toasted almonds, honey and hints of smoke. Lightly caramelized fruits bring a freshness on the palate. A sweet wine, but with great balancing acidity. This really complements desserts with caramel, dried fruits and toffee.
