Barbeito Quatro Pipas Bastardo Special Reserva Madeira

The next iteration in Ricardo’s quest to honour and resurrect the almost forgotten Bastardo variety. This wine is a blend of three separate base wines, from different vintages: 2007, 2009, and 2011. Each was made using varying winemaking methods, such as skin contact and volume of barrels for ageing. The age of the wines and the complexity of the resultant blend enabled this to be designated as a Reserva Especial wine. A fresh bouquet with a hint of tobacco, wood (pine), dried figs, dates and walnuts. This wine reveals much of  its character on the palate, where sweetness, acidity and a light spiciness blend in harmony, leading to a polished, long and silky finish.
